Weed and Algae Control

Herbicides and algaecides have their place in lake and pond
management; however they need to be used cautiously. There
are many species of plants and algae, each requiring specific
products and concentrations for proper control. Services
include a professional examination of the site by a degreed
biologist to determe the type and extent of the problem
vegetation. We work closely with government agency personnel
and manufacturers to remain up-to-date on regulations and current
technology. We obtain permits where necessary, apply the
product, and provide follow-up visitations where necessary.
Following each weed and/or algae treatment, customers will receive
a treatment record highlighting products used, application rates,
and use restrictions.

State of Wisconsin Residents
Please note that before treatment may begin, pond and
lake owners MUST have an approved DNR Aquatic Plant Control Permit or
DATCP Fish Farm License. Also, as of 10/31/11, all
treatments on waterbodies that have an overflow and leave the
property MUST have WPDES coverage through the Wisconsin DNR.
This coverage will most likely be tagged onto the DNR Aquatic Plant
Control Permit but will have additional requirements. Please
contact us for
further help in attaining these permits.
State of Illinois Residents
Please note that as of 10/31/11, all treatments on
waterbodies that leave the property MUST have NPDES coverage
through the Illinois EPA. This is usually through the
applicator. Please contact us for further help in attaining this
coverage.

"Our realtor advised us that one reason our property was
purchased was because of the pond. We have very much enjoyed
working with you. Your efforts provided many hours of great
fun and added to our knowledge base related to nature."

NPDES UPDATE!!

On October 31st, 2011, the general permit to discharge
under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES)
took effect. This new permitting system will be required for
ALL lakes and ponds that have an overflow
structure. The NPDES general permitting looks to monitor and
minimize point source discharges directly into federal and
state waters, monitor excess or residual pollutants from plant
control activities, and sets national standards for
documentation and reporting.
This permit for Wisconsin Residents will be issued through the
Wisconsin DNR. All pond owners will still need to have
the NR107 Aquatic Plant Control Permit, but only ponds
and lakes with an overflow that isn't contained on the
property will need WPDES coverage. The permit for
Illinois Residents will be issued through the Illinois EPA.
Currently, Lake and Pond Solutions Co. has obtained statewide
coverge for both Wisconsin and Illinois so customers will not need
seperate coverage.
